What We Do...
To meet our vision of providing the community with the best
possible shopping alternative in the used book business, we take
measures to ensure that our inventory is always replenished, and
that the quality of our books is maintained in the highest possible
order.
We operate a book exchange program which affords our customers
the option of either bringing books in to us for cash or for store credits
on subsequent purchases. Store credits usually amount to double the amount paid in cash.
We only accept those books which fit into our inventory (e.g., if we have
fifteen copies of a particular book, we probably won't need a sixteenth
copy), and books which are in good repair and appearance. Books that are
"read hard and put away worn" usually don't get accepted, although some
exceptions are made for classics or other books needed to round out a
section of the store.
Books are then hand-screened for damage, foreign objects are removed as
found, old labels carefully removed from covers, and the covers and edges
hand-cleaned. All books are then conspicuously priced to take the
guesswork out of shopping with us.
